Commitment Feels Solid A few weeks back my friend, Kathy Fettke, was telling me about this kid who turned his life around by getting involved with the Challenge Day organization. I was inspired to get in touch with him as I knew his story would be a great affirmation to you about the power of your intentions. Gabriel Ramos is now 22 years old. In March 2005, he will be literally running across our nation to teach both adults and kids to "Be The Change." This is a concept taught at Challenge Day. To Be The Change means to liberate ourselves from the self-imposed limitations of our minds, to create peace and connection from the inside out, to move away from hopelessness and fear, and take powerful positive steps toward creating the life -- and world -- of our dreams. (For info on their programs go to http://www.ChallengeDay.org) This, in itself, is pretty impressive but it's not the main attraction of my delight about Gabriel's journey. This dream had been alive in his mind for 3 years. He was going to run a marathon and a friend that was running with him told Gabriel that he ran across Oregon to raise money for a good cause. He said he raised a lot of money in one month. Gabriel was inspired! What results could he create if he ran for 6 months to raise money for Challenge day?! He came back and told the Board of Directors his idea. There was full support of the idea. Next he routed his trip, but there was no financial support to make this possible. Gabriel got stuck in the "I don't know how's." (I know none of us have ever experienced that, huh?!) He is very stubborn and got fixated on the obstacles. Frustration set in for the next couple of years. In the beginning of this past summer, he and one of the Challenge Day members talked of postponing the trip one more year. The thought of postponing his dream again pushed him over the edge. That was it! He got committed. He was going to run across the country, no matter what. It didn't matter if he was able to secure supplies or funds before his trip. He was going. Now he had his stubbornness working towards what he wanted versus giving all that attention to lack. To make himself accountable, he even cancelled his financial aid for school. As soon as the decision was made to go, things moved quickly and the Law Of Attraction was clearing the path. He went to another Challenge Day event where he became aware of his negative beliefs about money. He had made up a story that people have money they become colored and negative. Three days later he found a sponsor who wanted to advance the financial status of Latinos in the US. The sponsor wants to empower them from survival to thriving. Since Gabriel is a Latino, they were completely aligned. Next,Jennifer Lopez's foundation wanted to collaborate. When I spoke with Gabriel, his passion was oozing about adults dreaming bigger dreams, not settling and stepping into their power. He became in his power when he decided he was going to have his dream, no matter what. This works on any goal. You may have been stagnate or struggling with an important dream, but the moment that you know it will be so for you is when things get really easy. Everything will come together quick. Recently, I was talking to a friend about anger she had about some past relationships. I asked her if she wanted to let go of the anger. She said she wasn't sure. She thought it actually benefited her some ways. Like, motivated her. This is a made-up story. I bring this up because many times when we are not moving forward, it is because we think the way we've been thinking is protecting us from something. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Anger and fear of any kind make us small, actually repelling our dream. When you commit to what you want, you will feel solid and big. So stop talking about it and do something. You'll feel the red carpet being rolled out in front of you. You'll know exactly what to do and say.
