Life Lessons for Mastering the Law of Attraction: 7 Essential Ingredients for Living a Prosperous Life

“The Business Owner Myth”
by Jeanna Gabellini

Not a biz owner? It still applies.

I recently taught a workshop to coaches about creating a coaching business rather than a coaching practice. They expressed some of the same beliefs as many folks on this issue. Even if you're an employee for somebody else, you may find that these same issues affect you in the work, financial and family areas of your life. Let's see if I can crush some of the beliefs that stop you from having the prosperity you deserve.

Lots of folks have the following beliefs about either starting a business or expanding their existing business:

  • It's a lot of work.
  • It'll be overwhelming and my life will get out of control.
  • I don't know how.
  • Employees are a hassle.
  • The way it is now is good enough.
  • The bigger my business or the more money I make, things will get complicated.
  • The returns won't be worth the effort I put out.

BULL! It only seems that way because you don't believe that you can create it the way you desire. You don't have to sacrifice time, money, effort, or fun. That's why you've got to make a plan that serves ALL of your needs. Not just the need/desire for money. The other reason we think something is hard is because we don't know enough about it to make it easy. No matter how you've seen something done, there's always an easy way. When I first started using Quickbooks, I was completely confused. I kept thinking that it'd be much simpler to go back to my paper method. I then hired a bookkeeper to tutor me. Now it's a piece of cake and I'd be lost without it!

In “CASHFLOW Quadrant,“ Robert Kiyosaki says that a business owner creates income from other people and systems. I agree. Although ... I've coached a lot of business owners who have the mind set of a self-employed person. This isn't wrong, it's just slower and harder. You're probably nodding your head “yes“ to this. But take a good look in your life. See if any of the following could be included to bring you further bliss.

USING TONTO

Start using more of the available resources in your life. Look around. You have a ton of people around you who are gifted and are waiting to share it. They can help you with things that you don't have time for or don't like doing. How many things do you do that if given a magic wand, you'd have it be taken care of by someone else? What are you waiting for? Start delegating smartly and you'll have more time, money and joy.

If it costs you more money to have the “right“ person handle something -- do it. If they're free, like a family member, use them. Pay them a salary if it's for your biz. Don't you have a friend who is brilliant in some area you aren't? Go pick their brain. The Lone Ranger had Tonto. Be smarter and have a team.

If you're not a business owner, you can still maximize results in any area of your life with this method. Don't know how to do a certain trade option in the stock market? Who does? If you don't, someone who would? If that's a dead end, there's either a book or class that'll teach you.

Solution: Make up a resource list of people who you can call when you need help. I have one for both my business and investing. I also have people I call when I need to be pumped up or inspired. They remind me that I can create ANYTHING. Who'd be on your list? What purpose would each of them serve? Board of directors were created for this purpose. Who's on your board? I also ask myself, “What would a true business owner do right now? What would Robert Kiyosaki or Bill Gates do? If I wasn't coming from 'lack' what would I do?“

VALUE-BASED BIZ

I believe that the most prosperous way to create income is aligning your business and investments with your personal values. You can't go wrong. At this moment, you have liabilities in your life that can be turned into assets. There are things you dream of but you don't want to go into debt to have them. How can you turn the dream into an asset to make you money? Robert's friend, Marty, bought a limousine to drive in style. He then got contracts with a few corporations to rent it to them on a monthly retainer. Now he has it when he wants AND it's generating income for him.

What do you love doing? There is a way to generate income from this, you just haven't sought out the solution that's right for you. What about adding profit centers to your existing business that are a natural add on? In addition to wealth products, I'm constantly referring books, tapes, tools and movies to my clients to deepen their learning. Guess what's being added to my website? If the client is going to buy them anyway, why not have it be from me for the same price?!

There are no limits here. Everything is born from an idea or thought. Don't squash it. How can you let the idea serve you in having more time and money? Don't go after something because you heard it was the “smart“ thing to do. Do it because it's exciting and compelling. You can do your business wherever you want. The circumstances in life DO NOT dictate your success. YOU DO! Ask anyone who's got a fulfilling life. There is no area of your life that escapes this law. You are the creator. You ever heard the phrase “If it feels good do it“? If it doesn't feel good, why are you holding on? You've got to let go in order to reach for what feels good.

Any excuses are just a cop out to yourself. When you realize that you can have it your way, you'll stop limiting yourself. Try it -- just for the heck of it. I want to hear about your bliss!
